We acknowledge we are on Kaurna Miyurna land. The Dreaming is still living. From the past, in the present, into the future, forever.

My Darling Girls

Got back last night but I was too tired to write. We went out on Friday night to HUONG DIEN to chase a reported VC Bn 808 we walked all day Saturday and Sunday over those damned sandhills I took some photos of them. Rolling sand dunes 150' height with not a scrap of vegetation and damned hard walking We only got one VC and we walked 45000 metres and I've got a lovely blister to prove it. Then on Sunday afternoon the Rangers in QUANG DIEN got into big trouble

They ran into VC and found they've got a tiger by the tail - The VC surrounded them and started chopping them up, so they sent choppers for us and came in one side while the HUC BAO in M113s came up from HUE on the other. It was interesting for a while. The chopper I was in came in weaving hard from side to side and as I dived out the door there was the muzzle flash of a M6 winking at me from about 100 yds away. I now hold the "50' horizontal dive while firing a full magazine" record. Anyway we had a brisk discussion with them and they decided to call quits and pulled out during the night. We had 2 advisers seriously wounded with the Rangers and lost 10 dead 17 wounded - also in the rangers - My kids only had 3 wounded which was pretty good - proves they are getting smart

Found a nice letter waiting for me when I got home (8 FEB) Glad you bought another swimmer as you'll definitely need two for our holiday little sweetie. I'm sure Teddy is very trustworthy on the bike to school and if K.A says she obeys orders I can't see anything wrong with it. She's a big girl now

I didn't know Mick Weaner ? was one of those wounded. I'd heard of the incident but no names. Bad day yesterday apparently I hear we lost 3 officers down in the Task Force and we lost one WO2 HANLEY down at DANANG

Your cake was also waiting for me- delicious and the packet soups will be most useful to take on patrol little sweetie. The mess hall was closed when we got back so se feasted on Neisi's cake and had chocolate (ration pack type) - excellent timing by Neisi.

Another packet of slides was also waiting for me- the ones from SIA, so I'll have to write up the notes on both lots and get them off. Some good was amongst them That little PEN EE camera does a good job - Must close now my pretty darling and get off to work. I wanted to get a letter off this morning though as we've been away a long while. Take care of yourself my lovely young wife and don't worry about a Petie. I've got good troops and I'm being very very careful. I love you my wonderful darling.
