My Darling Girls,

Lousy day today 97,000 jobs to do and no time to do them. Got a nice letter tonight, that's the best thing that's happened today (1 MAR) 15 days - the postal system going to pot again. I must tell you funny story. When we left PHU THU two days ago the radio operators apparently didn't notice - came dark and they said "Where are the advisers" on being told we'd left the Sgt and the two pte radio operators took off - running - for HUE

They collected them for their houses about 9 PM and took them out in a truck with DAO. DAO had a carbine pointing at them and told them if the VC ambushed them he'd shoot them straight away as it was their fault. They are now in the radio shack at PHU THU - all HANDCUFFED by one wrist to their radios! Its great to have good morale. Had an ambush today down at PHU LOC lost a RF LT and 3 soldiers and they mortared PHU LOC district. They are definitely trying to knock out all the district HQ. We captured a plan of attack on PHONG DIEN - no date but it helps to know how they are thinking.

I'm glad old Kerry is feeling a bit better and is off to school little sweetie poor little pet it must have taken a lot out of her - and you my darling. Tell her I am very very proud of my big girl being class captain. Don't rely on me to give Kerry a had with her maths you know I'm lousy at it sweetie. Mick Weaver sounds a bit of a mess - ghastly to have all that done by your own aunty I don't know what colours to suggest for negligee my darling. You always look lovely - maybe red, or blue - or pink - not much help am I. I'm glad you got along to see "Sweet Charity" We'll certainly take the little pets to a live show if there is one on in our holidays. Gen Daly due up tomorrow - a waste of an afternoon with old lemon face - yetch. Col Graeser's replacement settling in, seems all right. He was here in 56 - 57 as an adviser - bit different then. Lehman's replacement arrived today - terribly young and much too large I only hope we can keep him alive long enough for him to learn the art of survival

Must close now my darling 11.30 and I'm beat.

Panic button just went from the TAC OPS CENTRE I'll be back. Back again 12.15. Phu Loc got nervous and wanted a flare ship and naval gunfire - we've soothed them down and put them to bed - just like the kids. Sleep tight my wonderful young wife. Remember I love you and those little princesses more than I can ever hope to tell you. Take care of yourselves - for me. I love you

Petie
