SUN 19 MAR

My Darling Girls.

Nice quiet day today and received a lovely letter tonight. I've made a tape today and I'll send it off with this it will be interesting to see how long it takes to get there. I'm glad you've gone back to Sigis? to get your hair done. We CAN afford it and I know what it does for your morale. I think the Edwards are a scream - my heart bleeds for them! I can't think of anything for Ba Em except maybe a jumper - it gets pretty cold up here and I know wool things are terribly expensive - Im sure she could use the dresses the girls have finished with as she has a couple of little girls. I'm SURE that [deleted] must have been playing the Black Market (he had a name as a confidence artist) to save that much I know we won't save that much - but I'm not prepared to risk my job to make a few dollars extra - its just not worth it! I'm sure you're doing well in the savings my darling and PLEASE get your hair done and give yourself a few breaks - we CAN afford them and you certainly deserve them. I'm glad Susies reading is going so well. Another little mouse tucked away in a corner reading soon I guess Please believe me darling that the two nicks I got a PHU THU - (there in the tape) were JUST that. I got out two bits of schrap a bit bigger than a larger pinhead with a nail file, put on some antiseptic and a bandaid and they are almost healed completely already - I didn't report them because I didn't want all this garbage of people coming around to the house and upsetting you for stoopid little scratches like that. I hope you understand little sweetie and they are truly healed up 90% already - you know how I heal.

That inscription reads

GIVEN TO MAJOR P.J. B (TANG) (THIEU-TA

TRUNG TA PHAN VAN KHOA (LT - COL

PROVINCE CHIEF THUA THIEN (TINH - TROUNG)

THI TRUANG HUE (COMMANDER OF)

I'll try and get Phillip a Beret in D'ANANG when I go down this week. I'll also try and get weenie her "HO DAI" ? girl briro - what else was it she wanted? a transistor like the girls? Getting stinking hot up here again now. The new Major for PHU THU has arrived - refuses to go out until the place is completely rebuilt and has at least 100 men. These people amaze me at times. ? you say I don't envy the [deleted] at all. They've got a loused up marriage and have to put up with each other - yetch! I think you should buy your outfit for the wedding you've got quite enough chores to do now my darling without taking on that one. I'm trying to arrange for Susy to get a telegram on the 26th. I hope I have better luck this time. Must close now little sweeties and get to bed. Remember I love you so very very much. I've got the most wonderful wife and sweeties any man could hope for. I love you. Petie
