Ngadlu tampinthi ngadlu Kaurna Miyurna yartangka. Munaintya puru purruna ngadlu-itya. Munaintyanangku yalaka tarrkarriana tuntarri.
We acknowledge we are on Kaurna Miyurna land. The Dreaming is still living. From the past, in the present, into the future, forever.

Opening today at the South Australian Museum, Mineral Lines is a beautiful exhibition of works on paper by South Australian artists Jackie Saunders and Laura Wills. It is the culmination of a twelve-month collaboration between the Museum and Tutti Arts as part of the Reaching Out project.
Taking the South Australian Museum’s mineral sciences collection as their inspiration, the artists have each created works that highlight their unique, colourful styles and pay homage to the wonder of minerals.
Jackie is a Ngarrindjeri, Wirangu, Kaurna and Kokatha artist known for her bold brushstrokes and dynamic use of colour. She takes inspiration from the natural world and creates bold works which are imbued with stories.
Laura's relationship to minerals is close to home, as her father is a geologist. Her experimental drawing practice investigates the ways in which land, ecology, history and human behaviour intersect.
Together the artists have also produced a site-specific mural that combines their work into a spectacular celebration of their collaboration. The mural, which covers the entire western wall of the exhibition space, is a celestial mapping depiction of the night sky including mineral details, constellation lines and other story elements.
Justine van Mourik, the Museum’s Deputy Director, Engagement, said the project had been a wonderful opportunity to bring the two organisations together.
“We’re thrilled that Jackie and Laura have been able to turn their experience of our minerals collection into such a fabulous exhibition,” Ms van Mourik said.
“It’s wonderful to see their take on a much-loved part of the Museum’s collections and displays, and we’re proud to present this exhibition as part of this year’s SALA festival.”
Gaelle Mellis, Creative Director of Tutti Arts, says “The partnership with the South Australian Museum has been an empowering collaboration which will enable the work to have great impact and to reach new audiences.”
Mineral Lines is an outcome of Reaching Out, a Tutti Arts project supported by Arts South Australia that sees learning disabled and neurodiverse visual artists work side-by-side with non-disabled peers artistically responding to leading cultural institutions. The exhibition is the result of a partnership between Tutti Arts and the South Australian Museum.
Mineral Lines is a free exhibition and will be open from 1 July until 18 September.
