Join us for the most exclusive pyjama party in town as we join forces with Electric Dreams to present Night Lab: Bedtime Stories on Friday 18 February as part of the 2022 Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Explore alternate realities and imagined worlds with a range of activities across all five floors of the Museum.  Be among the first to experience Volo: Dreams of Flight, a unique da Vinci-inspired virtual reality swing experience. Wearing a VR headset as you swing, riders will be transported into exhilarating dream experiences, with four iconic flying machines to choose from, each offering a different sensation of flight.

Enter a dream state and alter your perception of reality with exclusive performances, activities, floor talks, games, food, and cocktails, and more. The Dream Collector aka Michael Mills will be your guide through the land of nod as attendees experience an exciting program over four hours and spread across five floors of the Museum. Hear from scientists and researchers as we explore the universe, from the heavens and astronomy in Ancient Egypt - to the depths of the ocean and the creatures that live perpetual darkness. The evening will also include a sneak peek at Anthropocene in C Major an immersive experience of human impact on earth, felt through a live performance that turns climate change data into sound.

Find your inner peace through mindfulness and meditation, have your dreams interpreted and experience the global phenomenon that is ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response) in Tingledom, the Adelaide-based ASMR sensation with more than 2 million views on Youtube. Create your own mindful musical instrument or be inspired by the wonderful world of crystals to create a unique work of art.

Choose your own adventure with a range of activities across the night including a special version of the Museum’s ground-breaking Shadow Initiation tablet adventure game as you compete for a range of fabulous prizes.  Take a trip to the Batcave and learn all about these wonderful creatures of the night or put on the bat hat and test your ultrasonic senses with the Techspace echo location challenge.

There will be soothing sounds courtesy of Nelya DJ and to fuel your spiritual journey food and drink will be available from the Museum café. Chill out under the spectacle of the Aurora Australis with cool drinks and beats from our resident DJ in our third floor Polar Gallery.

South Australian Museum Director, Brian Oldman, says, “We are delighted to present another offering in our series of sold-out Night Lab events.  This time we have an amazing program of interactive and virtual reality experiences to add into the mix thanks to our partners Electric Dreams and the generosity of the Adelaide Fringe Festival.”

Museum Members will have access to a range of exclusive offers including a preview of Goliath: Playing with Reality, a groundbreaking VR experience narrated by Oscar winning actress Tilda Swinton.

Make sure to grab your tickets today before they sell out and join us for the evening of your dreams! Remember, if you snooze, you lose.
