This film was taken by Bernard C Cotton (see SAMA 892) under the auspices of The Field Naturalists' Society of South Australia. This film is believed to depict the last living Toolache Wallaby who was captive since 1927 in Robe, South Australia.
Throughout the film's intertitles and in BC Cotton's written summary (see SAMA 1058/1/8) the species is referred to as the 'Toolach Wallaby.' The correct spelling of the species is 'Toolache Wallaby (Macropus Greyi)'. All intertitles are italicised and are within quotation marks. All spelling in the intertitles has been left as originally spelt.
Please note that the time coded summary is in minutes and seconds only.

ACCOMPANYING MATERIAL
- This item consists of a four paged typed summary 'A Motion Picture Film of the Toolach Wallaby Macropus greyi by BC Cotton.' which states that during 'October, 1936, the author visited Robe, South Australia in order to make a 16mm motion picture film of the Toolach Wallaby. The animal which is owned by Mr J Brown of Robe is kept in a fenced paddock, is probably the last living representative of its species.' (p. 2) On page four of this item, a handwritten note in Mr A Rau's hand who was the South Australian Museum (SAM) taxidermist, states, 'This animal died 10. vii. 1939 and the skin is in SAM. (Regd. No. M4988).'
- One page, handwritten memo by Dr Catherine Kemper, Curator of Mammals, dated 13 September 2000. 'These films came to me in the late 1990s from Shelley Barker, Honorary Research Associate of the South Australian Museum, and formally of the Zoology Department, University of Adelaide. We have black and white [photographic] prints, of presumably the same animal, in the mammal section. They may be 'stills' taken from these films. The animal is a Macropus greyi, Toolache Wallaby, in captivity at Robe. The note written by A Rau refers to the prints but may also apply to the films.'
- One page, photocopied note by A Rau, which reads 'Photographs of the Toolach Wallaby (Wallabia greyi) living in captivity at Robe, South Australia. Jan 1938. Believed to be the last of the species left alive.'
